annabel bayly - biography
After a successful career in the IT industry, I studied Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art. During the degree course I moved to Cornwall, graduating in 2000 at Falmouth College of Art.
Since graduating, my work has been exhibited in London, at the Osborne Studio Gallery, Belgravia, and other selected shows in London and the South-East, and in Cornwall I am currently represented by the Harbour Gallery, Portscatho.
I have undertaken several private commissions, and I work from my studio in Cornwall.
The Work
My work is characterised by an uncluttered design and minimal use of objects, exploring the spatial relationships between objects, the spaces in between being as important as the objects themselves. I am interested in the way shapes interlock and relate to each other, as well as the aesthetic properties of elipses and their relationship to other forms within a shallow space.
My paintings are made using a restricted pallette, which seeks to establish a sense of balance, harmony and a contemplative quality in the work.
The paintings are all oil on canvas and are usually unframed and made on deep canvasses which lend an object-like quality to the finished work. |
